Why a Plant-Based Cooking Show for Beginners is Necessary

People hear about a plant-based diet but do not necessarily know what that means. Often, they think it means eating broccoli, salad greens and nothing else. One of the first questions I am often asked when someone learns I’m on a plant-based diet is, “what do you possibly eat?” That is a great question. After they learn I do not use butter or any oils, they furrow their brow and ask, “how do you possibly cook without either of those two things?” That is another great question. Finally comes the biggest question of all, “where will you get enough protein from?” Another great question!

I adopted the plant-based diet on May 13, 2019 at exactly 4:00 pm CST. I also went on an intensive research of this way of eating. I am on the autism spectrum, Asperger’s to be exact and I have a laser focus which, as Greta Thunberg states, gives me “superpowers.” Within a month I read every book by all the top plant-based physicians and all corresponding research and everything related to the plant-based diet. I even took an intensive on-line certificate course from Cornell University on the plant-based diet. I amassed enough knowledge to write a PhD dissertation on the subject. In essence, I did just that, as I wrote a 222-page book A Food Revolution: How the Plant-Based Lifestyle Can Win the Global War on Diabetes, Obesity, Heart Disease and Other Diseases.

I can say with full confidence that the plant-based diet, or lifestyle as I like to call it, not only worked for the purpose I had intended, but it totally changed my entire life! I had desperately been searching for a natural cure for my type 2 diabetes. The medications used to “treat” diabetes not only can make a person sick from their side effects, they can also kill you. I was not interested in any of it. I wanted a natural way to reverse diabetes. One of the things I learned during my research is that diabetes does not have to be a progressive disease, and that it CAN be reversed.

Within days after starting the plant-based eating, my blood sugars started coming down. So too did the scale, and my blood pressure. So now, a year later, I have reversed my diabetes, lost 75 pounds, and ditched high blood pressure, and feel like I’m 20 years old! I feel 100% confident to report that I am a plant-based expert.

My mission now is to enlighten others on what a plant-based diet can do for them. With the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become blatantly apparent that having underlying health conditions can be deadly. What can be done? Get rid of those underlying health conditions. In addition to my book, I am starting a Live cooking show starting Tuesday, May 12th at 6:00 pm CST on Instagram, “Come on into my kitchen!” I will be directing my content to individuals new to the plant-based diet, and those new to cooking. I am going to show how to do the most basic things like how to cut an onion without crying! How to sauté without butter or oil. How to prepare simple, nutrient-packed meals in under 30 minutes. Meals the whole family can make together and enjoy.
